Stephen joined the firm as an articling student in 2006. He is a litigator focusing his practice in the areas of civil litigation and criminal defense. Stephen also has experience prosecuting federal offences.
Growing up in small town southern Alberta, Stephen moved to Calgary in 1999. He obtained a B.A. in psychology from the University of Calgary in 2003 and an L.L.B. from the same institution in 2006. Stephen was admitted to the Alberta bar in 2007.
During his time at the University of Calgary, Stephen was an elected official in the Students’ Union and volunteered at Student Legal Assistance. He continues to be active in the community sitting as a member of the University of Calgary Students’ Union Review Board. Stephen also serves as an executive member of the local Canadian Bar Association’s Junior Lawyer section.
Before becoming a lawyer, Stephen spent several years employed by Citizenship and Immigration as an Immigration Officer at two different ports of entry in Alberta. During law school Stephen worked for the Department of Justice Federal Prosecution Service assisting in the preparation of major cases.
